Reinisch Signs With Athletics

The Athletics announced that they were purchasing the contract of former Mohawk Jake Reinisch from the Tri-City Valley Cats.

Reinisch played for the Mohawks in 2020 and 2021 from Wake Forest. After graduating from Shenendehowa, Reinisch joined the Mohawks for 16 games of the Covid shortened 2020 season and hit .214 with 2 doubles, 1 home run and 7 RBI. Following his freshman season at Wake Forest, Reinisch came back and .326 in 34 games with 10 doubles, 2 home runs and a team leading 31 RBI.

At Wake Forest, Reinisch was a 2024 Second Team NCBWA All-American, a 2024 Team Captain, a 2024 Dick Howser Trophy Semifinalist and the ACC Player of the Week (May 16, 2022). His senior reason in 2024, Jake hit .308 and with 67 RBI in 60 games played.

Following his collegiate career, Reinisch signed with the New York Boulders of the Frontier League in 2024 and appeared in 19 games. In 2025, Reinisch signed with the Tri-City Valley Cats in the Frontier League and hit a respectable .279 in 78 games with 20 home runs and 57 RBI.

This season with the Valley Cats, Reinisch has been hitting the cover off the ball with a .342 average as well as 6 home runs and 25 RBI in just 20 games. That was enough to catch the Athletics’ attention and purchase his contract from the Valley Cats. The A’s have assigned Reinisch to their Arizona Complex League team where he will begin his journey in affiliated ball.

Jake will continue to follow in his father’s footsteps. Paul Reinisch also attended Wake Forest and was a part of the Mohawks first Championship team back in 1988 and was named the co-League MVP that season and hit .358 with a league leading 34 RBI. Paul was drafted by the Detroit Tigers in the 31st round of the 1990 MLB Draft and played professionally until 1999.
