Box Score

LITTLE FALLS, NY – The Amsterdam Mohawks scored 12 of their 17 runs in the first four innings in a 17-5 win over the Mohawk Valley Diamond Dawgs.

Amsterdam got on the board first after an RBI double by Taylor Belza (Auburn) scored Aiden Dill (Seton Hall).

Another Amsterdam run came home in the third on a balk, then Dill picked up another RBI single, scoring Tyler Figueroa (Wake Forest). Taylor Belza (Auburn) brought home another two on a looping two-RBI single to left. Anthony DeCesare (Delaware) added a fifth on a ground out, scoring Belza.

Mohawk Valley's first run came in the fifth, thanks to a lazy bouncing ball by Joe Crenshaw (Richmond) with the bases loaded, allowing Wesley Alfonso (American International) to stroll in from third base. Jake Dolan (Seton Hall) also came home in his Veteran's Memorial Park debut on the next batter, as Byron Arias (Dominican) walked with the bases still loaded.

The lead went back to five in the fourth on a long RBI single by Ezell, scoring Brandon McCraine (Auburn). Dill got another two RBIs before Robert Melo (Delaware) cleared the bases with a 3-RBI double that rolled out of play.

Connor Scanlan (Fairfield) cut the lead back to seven with a long home run to center field, scoring himself, Brodie Freker (George Washington) and Crenshaw.

Pinch hitter Chris McLaughlin (Columbia) put another run up in the sixth, slamming a ball into center field and bringing home Dill. James Houghton brought home another run in the seventh before a big three-run home run by Gabriel Rivera put another three runs on the board in the eighth.

The Diamond Dawgs are back at Veteran's Memorial Park on Sunday when they host the Oneonta Outlaws. The Mohawks head back on the road for the middle game of a four-game road trip against the Glens Falls Dragons. The Mohawks travel to Glens Falls on Sunday to take on the Dragons at 7:00 PM.
