The Mohawks dismantled Boonville starting pitcher Colin Glenn as they scored 10 runs in the first inning, including an opposite-field home run by James Haughton, leading to a 26-1 victory.
With back-to-back home runs from Evan Taylor and James Haughton in the sixth inning, Amsterdam capped off the night with 26 runs, breaking the program single-game run record set by the Schenectady Mohawks in 1988.
Every Mohawk in the starting lineup reached base through the first two innings, leading to 14 RBIs in the first two frames. Saxon Roberts threw three innings with five strikeouts, and Joshua Martinez completed the victory with two shutout innings.
Glenn opened his night giving free passes to four of the first five batters he faced, leading to the Mohawks putting four runs to start the first. Amsterdam continued to pour it on, batting around in the first inning. Haughton launched a three-run moonshot, and Taylor Belza drove in two more runs with an RBI single, giving Amsterdam a 10-0 advantage.
The Lumberjacks settled in during the second inning, scoring their first run after three self-inflicted mistakes from the Mohawks. Amsterdam continued to get runners across the plate adding two more runs in the bottom half, capitalizing on the Lumberjack's third error of the night.
In his Mohawk debut, Andrew Holub laced a two-RBI double down the left field line. Brady Mills and Tyler Figeroua followed with RBIs of their own, as the Mohawks ended the second inning with a 16-1 lead.
The Lumberjacks put up the white flag in the fourth inning as they put in position player Wyatt Lassister to pitch. Amsterdam put up six more runs with RBI singles from Andy Cai, Haughton, Chris McLaughlin, Raul Rodriguez, and Robert Melo.
Amsterdam closed out the game in the seventh inning with a 26–1 victory, securing their 15th mercy-rule win of the season.
Saturday, Amsterdam will head on the road to face the Saugerties Stallions. The Mohawks hold a 7.0 game over the Stallions for first place in the East Division. First pitch is set for 6:45 p.m.
